Almyrida is in the Apokoronas area, at the entrance to Souda Bay, about 2 km after Kalyves and 22 km from Chania.

Almyrida is a seaside resort extending about 2 kilometres along the coast. The resort itself is quite small and touristy, with many hotels and apartments for rent.

Like neighbouring Kalyves, Almyrida has been very built up in recent years, due to strong Northern European interest in buying land and houses there.
