Kathiana is a village of Chania, in the former municipality of Akrotiri, just 12 km from the city of Chania. It is located at an altitude of 140 meters above sea level, while the residents mostly engage in agricultural work, viticulture and animal husbandry.

The Akrotiri Peninsula lies just 10km away from the main city of Chania. The best thing about Akrotiri is it remains largely untouched by tourism, with quaint little villages nestling close to the coastline or sitting proudly in the hillsides of the peninsula.
