Athens voted second among the best places to live by Property Guides UK
For 2022, Athens was voted in second place among the best places in the world to buy a property and move abroad, according to research by the British company Property Guides.
The research considered factors such as cost of living, ability to work remotely and personal work-life balance.
At the top of the list of Property Guides is Malaga, on the Costa del Sol in Spain, with the authors of the study explaining how if one wants to improve one's quality of life, then one should look to this Spanish city, which offers a warm Mediterranean climate and easy socialization.
As for the surprise climb of Athens to second place, the Property Guide experts explained that the pandemic has changed the opinion of many people about Greece. The government of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has performed well in general, while no place seems safer during a pandemic than an island in the glittering Mediterranean," they added.
A recent poll by packaging company RAJA gave Athens the title of the best place to move in 2022. For Athens to become the winner, the company assessed many factors including employment rate, safety, cost of living and healthcare. Rents are dramatically lower in Athens than in Britain and supermarket shopping is 16% cheaper.
