Air Haifa Expands Horizons: New Route to Athens Takes Off In 2025
Air Haifa, Israel's newest airline, is taking to the skies with a new route from Haifa International Airport to Athens. Starting January 2, 2025, passengers will be able to fly to the Greek capital five times a week: on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

With fares starting at just $149 for a one-way ticket, passengers can depart Haifa at 9:00 AM and return from Athens at 1:00 PM, adding flexibility to their travel plans. This latest addition underscores Air Haifa’s mission to connect northern Israel to sought-after international destinations.

A New Player in the Skies

Since its inaugural on December 22, Air Haifa has quickly expanded its network, with initial flights serving Ramon Airport near Eilat and Larnaca in Cyprus. Athens represents the carrier's first European route, with more still to come as it ramps up for the summer 2025 flying season.

But the airline's roots stretch back further. Its inaugural flights at the end of September were from Ben Gurion International Airport and represented vital connectivity during challeging times.

Growing Ambitions

Led by CEO Gonen Ussishkin, Air Haifa is poised for growth, operating a fleet of three ATR 72-600 aircraft. The airline plans to expand its reach with routes to Turkey and aims to serve one million passengers annually. Ussishkin highlights the strategic importance of Haifa’s connectivity: “Northern Israel has waited years for reliable air travel services. Strengthening this region is a priority for us.”

Revitalized Haifa International Airport

What started off backstage with regard to Haifa International Airport, on its part, turned into an extensive redevelopment to meet Air Haifa operational requirements: from general runway upgrade and enhancement of systems and parking to ultra-modern biometric check-in stations-readiness for the new era of the airport.

More Destinations, More Choices

Beyond Athens, Air Haifa offers three daily flights to Larnaca with round-trip fares starting at $118 and two daily flights to Eilat with one-way tickets beginning at $51. The airline’s competitive pricing and regional focus promise exciting travel opportunities for northern Israel.

With Athens now on the map, Air Haifa is setting its sights on becoming a key player in the Mediterranean and beyond.
