It is 200m from the bus station with frequent connection to the town of Rethymno. The little picturesque port of the village, with many traditional taverns is approx 1,2km away. Around the port, one can also find little stores with anything possibly needed, either for vacation or for a more permanent stay.

The village was well-known towards the end of the previous century, as the centre for the exportation of Cretes agricultural products to Western Europe.
