Location

A beautiful village 25km south west of Chania Town, Voukolies is built in a beautiful location on the west spot of river Tavronitis. Since the Turkish occupation, a large bazaar takes place in the main square of the village every week, selling traditional local products. Beautiful villages surround Voukolies and hiking is popular in the region. The route Voukolies- Ano Kefala- Sebronas- Palea Roumata is a lovely route along the running waters of Tavronitis.

Voukolies is a town in the west of the island of Crete, Greece. It was part of the Kissamos province which covers the north-western part of Chania Prefecture. Voukoulies is a large village with an important Saturday morning market. The former municipality of Voukoulies (now Platanias) extends from Tavronitis on the north coast to the foothills of the White Mountains. Its panoramic view offers relaxation and there you can also a cup of coffee of tsikoudia.

In the village of Tavronitis you will find a couple of convenient mini-markets, theres a butcher bakery and a patisserie.

If you go down, by the sea are 3-4 taverns strung along the pebbly shore line which stretches some 10 km around the bay to Kolymbari notable for its mouth watering choice of harbour side fish taverns, a larger super market and 3 banks all with ATM.
