Agii Apostoli is a seaside resort located immediately to the west of the city of Chania. This is an area of unique natural beauty. Love at first sight area.

The village of Daratso was initially small hill villages overlooking the beach of Kalamaki a little to the West of Chania. These villages saw some development in tourism some years ago, especially near the sea. The lower parts became known as Kato (meaning down or low in Greek) Daratso. It still manages to maintain a village atmosphere despite all the tourist developments.Daratso was also discovered by Cretans who wanted to escape living in the city of Chania and have become quite suburban by now although they still retain a quiet, residential atmosphere. The Connection to Chania is by regular city buses.

The former municipality of Nea Kydonia (now municipality of Chania) is located west of the city of Chania and consists of the communities of Daratsos, Galatas, Stalos, and Agia Marina. The main characteristics of this municipality are its big, clean, sandy, and green beaches. The beach of Stalos, of Agia Marina, and mostly of Agioi Apostoloi are some of the most popular. The well-known yearly, five-day festival of Agioi Apostoli includes cultural, athletic, and ecological events.

Daratso is known for its history since it is the field of many battles fought against the Turks and the Germans. The Battle Monument of Crete which is located in this village is erected to honor those who died in the Heroic Battle of Crete. At Alikianos you can visit the church of Ai Kyr Yiannis, in Meskla the fountains, and the Byzantine church of Christ. Across the beach of Agia Marina lies the island Thodorou which you can get to by boat. In Thodorou you can see the fort ruins, the church of Agios Theodoros, and the natural habitat of the Cretan wild goat. Nea Kydonia is a very touristic developed municipality with various hotel units and a lot of vegetation.
