The island of Spetses is the last one in the chain situated in the Saronic Gulf, the furthest south after Hydra. Several flying dolphins catamaran boats schedules per day throughout the year allow Spetses to be reached in less than two and a half hours from the port of Piraeus.

It is important to note that the island lies only a few miles from the shore of the north-eastern coast of the Peloponnese (Costa) with which it is connected via a regular ferry boat (20 min.) as well as sea taxis (10 min.) with their own anchoring place on the mainland. At Costa one finds several large guarded parking areas. Private cars are allowed on the island by special permission only for house owners and under certain conditions.

This infrastructure contributes to the fact that, unlike some other islands, Spetses never remains cutoff from the main land.
