Syvota is a picturesque village by the sea at the Southern end of the Prefecture of Thesprotia in the Region of Epirus. It is located at the North-Western part of Greece, opposite the island of Corfu and it has an active and vivid life all over the year.
In the 1960s it used to be a small fishing village which became famous for the unrivalled beauty of its landscape. Its unique hills with lush vegetation extend in harmony along the big or small bays of the coastline – in Norway they are called fiords – with little islands scattered here and there in the sea completing the whole combination of the green and the blue element. However, the Syvota fiords of the Ionian Sea have got deep blue crystal waters, decorated with beaches full of white pebbles and sand (some of which can only be reached by boat), constituting natural harbors and boat shelters… and all these under the clear, warm, blue sky…a rare beauty impossible to describe with words. Visiting it, is a really memorable experience. Therefore it is not strange that in 2009 during a broad TV advertising campaign, the GNTO (Greek National Tourism Organisation) invited people to visit the… "Caribbean Islands" in Syvota of Thesprotia.
Nowadays, without being a saturated tourist destination and due to its large geographical area, Syvota constitutes the most cosmopolitan developing region of Epirus in terms of tourism, a well-known destination in Greece and gradually abroad too, as well as a meeting point for both the local and the international jet set.
