Marathi lies on the southeast coast of Akrotiri peninsula, in a curved and sheltered cove facing Souda bay. Unlike the rest north beaches of Crete, its position protects it from winds and waves and this, together with the soft sandy beach makes it suitable for families with small kids.

The sea is not shallow many meters from the shore but it slopes gently. The center of Chania Town is 18 km away.

The village is located 16 km from the city of Chania with a crystal-clear sea and two waveless beaches. The beautiful beaches are with fine sand and shallow calm waters, ideal for children.

They are very well protected from the winds, as they look to the south and have a nice view of the surroundings. The beaches are separated by a small pier, which serves as a harbor.

Marathi actually has two beaches separated by a pier for fishing and excursion boats. Both beaches have facilities like sunbeds and parasols, and the seaside is lined with fish taverns and cafes.
