African Heatwave with 40°C to hit Greece

Meteorologists in Greece forecast a heatwave with temperatures to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius. The warm air masses are coming from Africa together with strong south winds and Sahara dust. It will be the first heatwave of the year.
According to National Observatory of Athens, temperatures would rise above 35°C in Central Greece and southern parts of the country like Peloponnese and Crete.
Temperature rise will start on Monday, May 11, with the peak of the heatwave to be on Tuesday, May 12, with up to 38° C. On Wednesday, May 13, the temperature will be at seasonal level with the exception of northern Crete (38° C.)
