According to the country's tourism minister, visitors will be required to have been vaccinated, had a recent negative Covid-19 test or have coronavirus antibodies.
For those who've begun to cautiously think about summer travel plans, it looks as though Greece is set to reopen for tourism from May.

The country's tourism minister Haris Theoharis has said during a virtual appearance at travel trade show ATB Berlin this week that he is "more than optimistic" about 2021, and that Greece hopes to welcome foreign tourists from May 14, depending on the status of the global pandemic.

As per Theoharis, visitors will either be required to prove they have been vaccinated, present a negative Covid-19 test, or have coronavirus antibodies. He added that a pilot reopening of borders would likely take place next month.

Greece is currently among the leading destinations in Europe for its vaccine rollout, having administered more than 1 million doses to its population of 11 million. Islands with a population of less than 1,000 people have been prioritised first, with Theoharis indicating in a previous interview that thereafter "we want to vaccinate people working in the tourism sector, from hotel staff and waiters to tourist guides and drivers."

Currently passengers travelling from the UAE to Greece are required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours, complete a passenger locator form, undergo rapid testing on arrival and then self-isolate for seven days.

While Europe was largely off-limits to travellers outside of the EU last year, this year with a mass vaccine rollout underway, many European countries have already suggested that they'll welcome tourists from further afield. Travellers that have been vaccinated can already travel to Romania, Estonia and Georgia, while destinations including Malta, Montenegro and Croatia have been letting all arrivals from the UAE in for several months.
